Dear Customers & Friends:
Spring has arrived full force, and we hope you are enjoying the warmer weather and burgeoning wildlife as much as we are.
We are pleased to announce that Coastal Printing, Inc. is also growing. Our in-house services have expanded considerably. In addition to our graphic design and printing services, we now offer professional marketing consulting and design, including branding, presentation material design and much more.
Even in this challenging market, "new is good". Every few years, general marketing wisdom indicates that a fresh new look for your printed matter is good for business. An updated logo, new letterhead stationary or presentation folder inform your clients and customers that you are still in the game. Coastal took that step itself this spring! We have a new website. logo and an array of office materials that reflect the re-design. We hope you like it too.
In celebration of
all things new and fresh, we are offering a 15% discount on the design and printing of the following office basic package: business cards, letterhead and envelopes.

Best regards,

Promoting Your Business: No Cutbacks There!
You can name a myriad of legitimate areas of cost reduction these days, but don’t count marketing and advertising among them. Business expenses ranging from daily office comforts to staff benefits may weather the reductions made necessary by our current economy, but neglecting the promotion of your business will not. And by removing your name from the marketplace – particularly when your competition does not - may lead to the perception that your business is struggling and facing uncertainty.
In this issue I suggest that you digest the following general concepts and put them to work for you. In succeeding newsletters we will feature very specific and inexpensive means to promote your business, and suggest communication strategies that will help you flourish while others flounder during these troubled economic times.
-
While you cut back on coffee and bagels at the office for the time-being, do focus on developing marketing strategies that encourage high visibility. Historically, many of your competitors will not. Consequently, you may earn the coveted Top Dog position!
-
Be willing to negotiate with your advertisers. Increasingly, media of all types are struggling to fill their advertising spaces. Securing a better deal can mean securing their viability as well. Request that your advertising media increase the broadcast frequency of radio spots, or increase placement of newspaper ads for the same fees - for now. No hard feelings! This is business in 2008.
-
Use free publicity venues to your advantage. Develop friendly, accessible relationships with all your local reporters. If you appeal to their regular need for newsworthy stories, you will be rewarded.
-
Get involved in events that benefit your community. Timberland and Tom's of Maine have done great things in various New England Communities and have become known for their hands-on support of environmental and social projects. However, be careful not to toot your own horn. Let the community do that for you. If your staff participates in a town-wide trash cleanup it's likely that the coordinator will broadcast your efforts. And it will make your staff feel great. Healthy moral is good for business!

What Your Business Can Do Every Day to
Save $$ and The Natural Environment
It has become economically desirable to be "green" these days. One area of clear savings is office paper consumption. As all office supplies become more expensive to produce, predominantly as a result of fuel prices, paper is naturally more expensive to purchase. So, cut back as much as is practical, and conserve natural resources at the same time.
What your office can do every day:
-
Set your printer and/or copier to print both sides of every sheet of paper
-
Increase the margins on written materials to .75 inches
-
Create scratch-note paper from paper that has been printed on one side. When appearance doesn't matter, use it in your printer/copier as well
-
Re-use envelopes of any size - again, when presentation doesn't matter. Just apply a new label over the old one.
-
Maintain all documents in their digital form only. Share information via email, instead of paper
-
Donate paper to charity that profits from used paper collection. Abitibi Paper Retriever is a paper collection organization that has many drop off bins in our region for that purpose. You may donate the following: Magazines, Shopping catalogs, Newspaper, Office & School Papers, Mail
