PREPARING YOUR FILES
All printshops work with computer programs unique to the design and printing industry. Whether we are redesigning an existing document to then print for you, or are simply preparing a document for our printshop area you will save time and expense when they are provided to us in particular formats.
At Coastal Printing we work on both PC and Mac computer platforms, and are pleased to accept your files created in the following programs:
Quark
Adobe PageMaker
Adobe Illustrator
Adobe Photoshop
InDesign
Print-Ready PDF
Note that files created in some consumer design programs such as MS Publisher and Corel Draw can not be converted to professional grade files that we can edit with our design programs. In this case, time to rewrite text will be charged at our reduced type set rate, and any images must be provided separately, no smaller than *300 dpi if you desire a high quality final product (*higher dpi required for images used in banners and large format posters).
NAMING YOUR FILES
Please limit file names to 32 characters or less, and avoid use of special characters such as forward and back slashes ( / and \ ), ampersands ( & ), number/pound signs ( # ), etc. Replace spaces with hyphens or underscore characters.
HOW TO GET YOUR FILES TO US
We prefer that you transport your files on flash drives to save plastic. In moments we can copy the info from your flashdrive and return the drive to you. We also accept files supplied on DVD, CD and via FTP (File Transfer Protocol) in any size, and via email when large files are compressed first.
Coastal Printing, Inc. maintains an FTP (File Transfer Protocol) server, making it easy for our customers to upload large files. The preferred method is to use an industry standard FTP client to send and retrieve files (e.g., Filezilla, which is a free program). To obtain the required username and password, or for other assistance, contact your service representative at Coastal Printing, Inc.: (978) 465-2607
Very large files, up to 10MB, can be sent via Email but must be compressed using a digital compression utility such as Stuffit (.sit) for a Mac computer or WinZip (.zip) for a PC. |
Excellent News for Small Business Printing!
We now have printers capable of very "short runs". We can print as few as 25 presentation folders, mailers, brochures, and many more full color items. |
